We did it! The day was finally here that we would buy our house! It honestly doesn’t feel real. The big reason being that we still don’t actually LIVE in the house, but the bottom line is that we own in! It’s all ours for as many years as we want to keep it! We have one more week until we move in, and until then I get to enjoy and admire it in bits and pieces, but soon enough we will spend our first night there….and I can’t wait!

We closed on Friday, January 18th. I think Captain Awesome had a slight stroke handing over some very large checks but I couldn’t stop smiling. I had been waiting for that day for so long. If you think about it we actually have been trying to buy a house for almost a year. We decided last March to make the leap and put our house on the market. We had a lot of struggles, and a lot of hiccups, but in the end I think we found the home we are supposed to be in. A home in a town we never even knew or thought about, but once we found it I knew it was ours.

We have been homeless for two weeks now, with just a few more days to go. Friday is move in day. I am finally seeing the finish line and it doesn’t seem so far away. Let me tell you….for a while there it felt like it was NEVER going to happen. But we have the keys. That’s a huge step. This week we are doing minimal work to the house. Carpets have already been ripped up. Then we paint and get new carpets put in. Then, due to our movers schedule we can’t move in till Friday, but I that’s OK. I’ve made peace with that and I keep reminding myself that we have years and years to enjoy the home…won’t more day won’t kill me.

I’m glad that there isn’t much that needs to be done for the house. My brain hurts just thinking about paint colors. I can barely decide what shirt to wear in the morning rather than making huge decisions about carpets and paint. Small tasks are hard enough!

So we are ready. Ready to start making memories in our new home. I can’t wait to plop myself down on the couch one night…light a fire…and watch my shows like normal. I’m ready for life to get back to the way it was. Things have been insane for a while and I just want to relax. The time is almost here. Our new home is great and I can’t wait!
