For some reason in my head I always considered 18 months to be a turning point from baby to full on toddler. A lot of mommy and me classes begin for kids at 18 months, and 18 months always was the point where they tell you that kids get more interested in group activities. Then, I turned around and realized YOU were 18 months! My baby boy is now a year and a half old, and I am not sure how I feel about it.
The other week your daddy and I spent the longest time away from you ever. A whole two nights! I missed you so much, and when I came home I couldn’t believe how BIG you looked! As a matter of fact I am in awe regularly at how fast you are growing. At 24.31 lbs and 32.75 inches you are in the 28% in weight and 63% for height! You are long and lean! I laugh every time we see the doctor because you are obsessed with her stethoscope. You take it from her and wear it around your neck like she does. Paging Dr. Christian!
I am so thankful that you are a good sleeper. Even though you are officially down to 1 afternoon nap, you still sleep long through out the night. Still about 7-7 on average. Earlier in the month you refused to take that long afternoon nap everyone promised me, but now you are at a steady 2 1/2 or 3 hours. yay for mommy! We are getting used to our long mornings together. I do my best to keep you entertained because if I don’t then your choice of activity would be watching Blues Clues, Diego, or Dora. I know too much TV is bad for you, so we get ourselves up and out every day. Right now you take Swim lessons, Gymboree gym class and Gymboree music class. It’s so fun to watch you learn and take an interest. As a matter of fact the last few weeks you made art projects! Don’t worry….I will save them all. Right now they are on the fridge!
You are my little cuddle bug and a bit of a mammas boy. I love it! I won’t lie. I could sit with you and cuddle forever, and some days we do. I refuse to move you off my lap no matter what so until you get up yourself cuddled up we stay. I know these times won’t last forever, so I relish in it. These have always been my favorite moments, and I am so happy that you love to cuddle with me too.
You still don’t have much of a desire to verbally communicate. But even so, you understand EVERYTHING! You know every animal, and love playing with your animal magnets. I am shocked at how you know everything I say.
You march to the beat of your own drummer. Whatever you are supposed to be doing you don’t, and whatever you shouldn’t be playing with you want to have. I think this will be the first time in one of these letter that I will admit that sometimes I find you extremely frustrating. You have such a mind of your own, and that means little temper tantrums. I have learned to deal with them, but sometimes it can be exhausting. You will soon have to learn that mommy wins….or at least let me think I am winning.
You are on the move constantly through out the day. I always think when we play outside that I can just sit in a chair and watch you play sometimes. Nope, your mommy is with you up the slide, down the slide, over curbs, through the mulch and picking up every rock with you that you find. Each day with you is an adventure, and I am so blessed to get to spend every day with you.
I love you my little man. You make me happy every day.
Love Mommy
