Sorry dear readers, but as you know I have been completely MIA for over a week. I know you are dying for a taste of my ramblings…Miss me? The truth is that I haven’t been doing anything really exciting, unless you consider a ton of family time exciting (which I do!). So I thought you guys would understand if I took a few days off. Am I forgiven? Here is a bit of a round up!

It is hard to live away from my family..as a matter of fact I hate it…but this past week I was lucky enough to spend a lot of time with them. My mom came up to LI for a few days, and then together we drove to PA where I spent the rest of the week at the house where I grew up. It was so wonderful seeing them with Christian. I look at the time I spend with them as a bit of a mommy’s vacation. My mom changes diapers, bathes and dresses my little guy. It’s also is nice to have someone to pass the baby off to once in a while. I LOVE every day with  my son..but let’s be honest… It’s nice to have a little break for a few days.

The week went by very quickly and before I knew it, it was Easter. It was great having my entire family under one roof for the holiday. The Captain laughs at the fact that my family literally sits and talks the entire weekend, but I truly love that time together. Normally, Captain Awesome and I do not have the same Easter. I’m Catholic, and he’s Greek Orthodox, and USUALLY the holiday falls on different weeks. Therefore, normally we get to celebrate with both of our families separately. BUT…. for the past two years it has fallen on the same weekend. Boo! So we were forced to split Easter up yet again this year.

I think we went a little overboard on Easter, but what’s wrong with spoiling my little guy a bit? He had THREE Easter baskets filled with presents! One from the Easter bunny…one from Grandma and Grandpa and one from his Aunt Kelly. I know that he had no idea that it was Easter, but I had fun with it so that’s what counts. Plus, I got some great photos out of it! We spent the morning with my family. We went to church and had an early dinner (my favorite dinner of turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, apple sauce and biscuits!). It is a different experience with a baby though…Christian made it a little difficult to peacefully enjoy my meal. I guess that is something to look forward to for the rest of my days! After dinner we packed up the car and left for Long Island. That is where we had Easter Round 2!

The Captains’ family spends Easter at a family friends house. Greaster (or Greek Easter), is a wonderful event filled with lambs and pigs cooking on a spit, greek music, and lots of other greek foods. It really is a great tradition, and I really enjoy spending it with them.  Christian got to spend time with his Nana and Papou as well as his Aunt and Uncles…boy is he one spoiled little boy! He got an Easter present from his Nana and Papou which he will love this summer…yay for another present! I also had fun showing the little guy off to their family friends. I’ve got such a cutie..so why not be proud to show him around!?

So that is where I’ve been this past week! Holidays are just that much more fun with Christian in our life. He brings such joy, and I can’t wait for all the things to come. I can’t believe his first Easter has come and gone!
