Our Wedding

I think this video says a lot about the theme that surrounded our wedding, and that is FUN! My husband and I got married on June 14, 2008 in Bethlehem PA. It was more amazing then I could’ve ever imagined. I had dreamed about my wedding day for a very long time, and I had a blast planning every part of it. My friends and family picked on me regularly for my “visions” of what my wedding would look like, and my blue binder that I carried with me always, but in the end everything happened the way we wanted it.

We got married in a Greek Orthodox Church (my husband is Greek). It was a compromise that was made. I got to be married in PA, and he got to be married in the Greek Orthodox church. I am not sure if you have ever been to a wedding in the Greek church but it’s certainly a site! (check out my big fat greek wedding and there you have it!) Our reception was at the Hotel Bethlehem which is a historic hotel in downtown Bethlehem. It was exactly what I was looking for!

We had the most amazing day from start to finish.  I LOVED being a bride. I can never imagine another time when almost 200 people stand and clap when you walk into a room, but that’s how it is when you are first announced as husband and wife. My husband and I took dance lessons and learned a dance to the song “I could not ask for more” by Edwin Mcain. If you’ve never taken dance lessons let me me tell you that it’s much harder than it looks! But we had fun with it. My husband was the best groom. He was always there with me and it was wonderful to share every moment of the day together.

My sister was my maid of Honor and my husband has 2 brothers so his younger brother was his best man and his older brother was his Koumbaro (this person participates in the Greek wedding ceremony as best man). My sister was a wonderful Maid of honor. She was my support through our engagement and always listened to my crazy talk before, during and after my wedding.

I am so sad that the day has come and gone. I love being married and being a wife, but so far nothing can compare to that wonderful day. I think about putting on my dress again, and probably will soon. My tiara and garter sit on my book shelf. Some people choose not to have a videographer because they feel like they won’t watch the video but that’s not the case with me. I keep it in my computer and play it sometimes (ok regularly). So many great memories were made on that day, and I love reliving them by watching the video and seeing the pictures. That day started our lives as husband and wife, and we have many more things in store for our future. I can’t wait to share it all with my best friend!
