I have decided it’s time to set the record straight on what I actually DO for a living. Sometimes I get a little frustrated at my husband when he tells others that I sell paper, because honestly that is NOT exactly what I do. But I guess I have to cut him some slack because growing up when anyone asked me what my dad did, I would tell them “he sells paper”. So for him and for anyone else that is confused….here’s the bottom line.
Before I begin I would like to ask that you refrain from any “Michael Scott” , or “The Office” jokes. Yes, we do sometimes sell items such as they do on that show, but but it is in no way a major part of the business. I work for Foley Business Forms & Print Solutions. It is my father’s company that he started in 1984, and I was lucky enough to have him allow me to start his company up in Long Island. As I have said in a previous post, I work from home. In today’s world it is very easy to do business with a computer, phone and fax, and that is exactly what I do. And to be honest…if I were a little more ambitious I think I could be REALLY good at what I do, because when I hit the ground running back in 2003 to start my small branch, I did very very well. Now, I am content with the customers I have…and life is good.
What do we sell? Here are the basics
- Forms: Laser and Continuous
- Labels
- Checks
- Marketing Materials
- Promotional Products
- Letterhead/Envelopes
- Direct Mail
- Pocket Folders /binders
- Cards: Holiday/Birthday/ Wedding Invites
- Toner Cartridges/ribbons
It may be a shock to some, but I DO NOT sit on my butt all day and do nothing. I enjoy the part of my job that includes interacting with customers (well the good ones anyway). It is my job to go out and see them regularly to keep the business. In all honesty I think the customers who choose to work with me choose to do so because they like me as a person rather than because of my “print expertise”. And that is perfectly fine with me!
So I am thankful to my dad (and mom) for giving me this opportunity 6 years ago. I know for a FACT that I am doing what I am supposed to be doing. And hey…if you need anything printed give me a call! You can contact me through the Foley Business Forms & Print Solutions Website!
Hey Jen – there’s a message for you on my blog!
i love that you get to work from home — like me!!! isnt it the best? i dont think i have quite as much flexibility since i work for a fortune 500 company, not my dads business…but more power to you (and me!) for being able to make a living doing what we enjoy, on our terms, and in our own way. ? we are lucky…and we know it! ?
