The day is finally here! February 26th, 2010 is my 1 year Blogaversary! I can’t believe I have been writing on this blog for a year already! I have brought you with me through a lot. This year has had it’s ups and it’s downs, and I am so happy that I have been able to share it with you my readers. Some people write to me and say that they appreciate my honesty. I personally feel that there is no point in writing a personal blog like this if I don’t share the good the bad and the ugly. How else are you supposed to get to know me? So in honor of my Blogaversary I want to reflect on the past, but mainly set some goals for the future. Do you have yourMartooni? Let’s get this party underway!
Before I can look ahead at the future I feel like it’s important to remember the past. I started this blog with the goal of sharing about my life After The Altar…as in life after getting married. But as many of you have noticed, my blog title is After The Alter with an “e”..as in change…because that’s what I was going through a change. Because when I got married my life was not only about me. I was part of a unit, and I was lucky enough to marry my best friend..my other half. The blog kind of took on a mind of it’s own when we suffered our miscarriage this past summer. Because when I started I wanted to share tips about things I was learning as a new wife…but as I started sharing more personal things I found that I was able to let you all in. And I found that this blog could do both. A place to tell my tales of learning,( such as my wifey 101 posts) as well as a place to share about my inner most thoughts.
Where do I want to go in the future? I’m not exactly sure? They say that in order to be a successful blog you have to set goals, and stick to them. They say you have to have a noticeable theme, and a loyal following. So what’s my theme? Well obviously marriage, but I kind of go all over the place with each post. I never really know what’s going to get written down when I start. And to be honest I like it that way. I like one day telling stories about my TTC Journey and the next posting a random thought about Stripper Songs. Sometimes I want to talk about relationships and bodily functions and the next about my life as a wino. I hope you all agree!
As we go into the next year what I really want is to build the After The Alter community. I want you to ask questions that you want answered on the site. I want people to go on the Facebook Fan Page, and ask questions to fellow spouses (men and women alike). There is so much blog support out there for mom blogs, and pregnancy blogs and every other topic known to man. But where can someone teach me about the best cleaning supplies? Or how to plan a romantic evening. I want to hear from you! And most of all I want you to feel free to Contact me. I just love getting your e mails and feed back. They really do make my day.
So in the spirit of looking ahead, I want to know what you my readers want to see more of. That’s right I want/need your input! I know there are a lot of lurkers out there. You know who you are, those of you who read daily but don’t want to comment. I get it, but if just this once you could show yourself and tell me what you like to read it would be very helpful. So THANK YOU in advance! (see I said Thank you already so that means you have to do it!)
I really hope that this year brings much happiness. I feel that you all got to see a large sad side of me, but really…Jen is a happy girl! So I want more of that to come through. And I think it will. Big things are coming…I can feel it. And I can’t wait to take you all with me!
Happy Blogaversary! A milestone for sure. I hope the rain did not dappen your celebration. I myself and Sam my husband had more red wine tonight. I look forward to reading your blog getting to know you better.
Red wine is a wonderful way to celebrate! I certainly will have some tonight! (or maybe today depending on the snow and if my neighbors come over!) I will definitely check out your blog!
I really like the random postings – I just like hearing about what you’re thinking that day! Because you’re right, there’s not a lot of support for ladies like us – married without kids and learning how to be just us. Thanks for being there for me!
Ya! us married w/ out kids ladies have a lot to offer too! We can work on being wives before our future kids!
Congrats lady! One year down, and whole many more to go. The 1st year kinda just sneaks up on you doesn’t it? :o)
My best, Lynn

Stoppin’ by from SITS!
Yay, one year of blogging! Happy Blogaversary! Your life is your theme, and you write about what’s happening in your life. Continue to do what makes you happy. I like that you are open and honest and share things from your real life, as opposed to some blogs about randomness that I often stumble across and leave them wondering, “what was that about?”
That is pretty much my theme isn’t it! Thanks for pointing that out:)
Happy anniversary!

Hi, over from SITS today. Congratulations on your blogaversary. It takes some staying power to make it to a year. You go girl!!!!! Love your posts. Have a great weekend.
Thanks Michelle! And thank you for visiting! Yup 1 year! And I still love blogging so that’s a good sign ?
Happy 1st Blogiversary and many more to come!
The great thing about life-blogs, as opposed to niche blogs, is that they can appeal to anyone depending on the day. Life is the common denominator. We all live one, so even if one post doesn’t resonate with someone, the next one might, and they all add up to getting to know someone new (which is a pretty cool thing to be able to do).
Congrats on your Blogaversary! Visiting from sits.
Happy Blogaversary! I’m always so impressed that you make the time to keep this going and current. I give you a big round of applause! Hope you’re enjoying a martooni or two to celebrate.
