One of the best parts of being pregnant is getting to see the little miracle in your belly growing from a tiny little bean to an actual person. It truly is a miracle! I never can really wrap my head around it so I don’t really try. After our 20 week sonogram I have been dying to see our little girl again, and I could wait to have an elective 3D sonogram. Our practice doesn’t offer a 3D sono, so I am thankful there are companies out there like Impact 3D/4D Ultrasound Center to allow me to see our little girl in such detail. Seeing her little features truly is amazing!
Impact Medical Technologies is an elective ultrasound imaging facility located in Hicksville, New York and convenient to Manhattan, Queens, Suffolk and other areas surrounding New York City. They offer an elective live-motion 4D ultrasound experience to provide a positive bond for parents with their unborn baby. Research shows that realistic surface images provide a connection between the parents and baby that can be beneficial to the whole family.
They say the best time to get a 3D sonogram is between 24 and 34 weeks. If you go too soon your little one may look a lot like an alien, and if you go too late then the baby may be too big and squished inside to get good pictures. One option Impact offers their clients is an early gender reveal option. Luckily I didn’t know about this, but it allows you to come in even earlier than 20 weeks to see if your little one will cooperate and show their goods. Keep in mind the results can never be 100% accurate though!

The room is set up to allow for family involvement. With a big screen TV to broadcast the entire 3D/4D experience and couches and chairs for all to get a great view. I just went with Captain Awesome this time around, but should you want a party there is more than enough room. I should’ve known my little girl wouldn’t totally cooperate, but the technician did every trick in the book to make her move. She kept putting her hands in front of her face and the umbilical cord kept blocking our view. Not to mention her horizontal position had her face shadowed up against the side of my uterus. She already is giving me trouble! I still think we got some great pictures of our little girl, and it was super fun to reconfirm that she actually WAS a girl. We certainly got a good anatomy lesson!
The whole experience was everything I wanted it to be. Just seeing her little face helped me feel even more bonded to our little girl than I already feel. She looked completely different than our little man did when we did a 3D sono with him, and I can’t wait to compare these photos and video to the little baby that will soon be in my arms. There is a lot of different price points, but personally I think it’s extremely affordable. It even would make a great Mother’s Day, Birthday or baby shower gift for someone. It gives you a great opportunity to see your little one in between sonograms and just one more thing to look forward to.
