So today (Tuesday) begins my tenth week of pregnancy. I’d like to say that time has flown, but I would be lying. And I would not like to lie to you my readers. As a matter of fact time seems to be going rather slow. I guess if you consider I got my BFP in early April, and it is now currently mid May, time is definitely moving on. But I would say its like waiting for water to boil….it just takes time. As always I am just waiting for my next appointment. The next appointment is that big one that marks the end of the first trimester. Three more weeks to go!
Last week I took a big step and bought a Be Band from Target. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a stretchy band that goes around your waist so that you can continue to wear your regular pants, only you don’t button them. That’s right, I’ve hit that awkward stage in my pregnancy where I am just bloated and look like I have a beer gut. (see picture above) No dear friends, it’s not cute at all. My clothes don’t really fit, but I don’t want to buy maternity clothes yet. I am just looking forward to warmer weather when I can start to wear my summer dresses. I think they will fit nicely for now.
All the symptoms I have been having are still there. I am absolutely exhausted pretty much all the time, most food sounds horrible to me, and I am still starving ALL the time. I have found that eating smaller meals through out the day helps a bit. Last week I was so hungry that I ate way too much of a chicken salad sandwhich on a bagel and I got sick. Now, that one food I was craving no longer sounds so appetizing anymore. Bummer! I get indigestion very easily, and get ready for TMI but every night I get horrible gas pains. Don’t worry, The Captain doesn’t get the brunt of that..I still follow my bodily functions rule from before. But don’t think I wouldn’t just let one go if I could…nope that gas likes to just sit right inside my stomach. Ahhh the joys.
I’ve got to say I’m pretty lucky. The symptoms really aren’t that bad. Our little Pooh Bear thus far is treating me well. I look forward to each week being one step closer to when I get to see Pooh Bear again. Week ten will be no different. So let’s take a look at what is going on with little Pooh Bear this week! It’s amazing what new things happen each week!
Pregnancy Week Ten
Though he’s barely the size of a kumquat — a little over an inch or so long, crown to bottom — and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, your baby has now completed the most critical portion of his development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in his body rapidly grow and mature.
He’s swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs — including his kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver (now making red blood cells in place of the disappearing yolk sac) — are in place and starting to function, though they’ll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy.
If you could take a peek inside your womb, you’d spot minute details, like tiny nails forming on fingers and toes (no more webbing) and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin.
In other developments: Your baby’s limbs can bend now. His hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over his heart, and his feet may be long enough to meet in front of his body. The outline of his spine is clearly visible through translucent skin, and spinal nerves are beginning to stretch out from his spinal cord. Your baby’s forehead temporarily bulges with his developing brain and sits very high on his head, which measures half the length of his body. From crown to rump, he’s about 1 1/4 inches long. In the coming weeks, your baby will again double in size — to nearly 3 inches.
I love the Baby Center updates! Amazing huh? Pooh Bear is now a fetus!!
I can only imagine that every day seems to drag on when you’re pregnant! And oh those symptoms don’t sound like fun!
But Pooh Bear is definitely an adorable name. ? Hehe.
Congrats on Pooh Bear!
Love the name. ? I hope you start feeling better soon!
Stopping from SITS! It is amazing to realize all tht is going on with something so small.
Awww – I love your enthusiasm and excitement! I think your little baby belly is cute, but I can see how to you it might not be. Keep us posted on the symptoms – that’s the part I DREAD!!!
I guess I just want it to start looking like a baby belly and not fat! hahaha
I’m just a week behind you – beginning week 9 of my pregnancy – and the symptoms are really starting to kick in now! With every wave of nausea and each ache and pain, I try to say a little ‘thank you’ to this bean for letting me know that he/she is still there and still growing! When things go right, it truly is nothing short of a miracle!
9 weeks! fun! I always said I would take any sickness I was given because it was a sign things were still going well. I gotta say I’ve felt pretty good. Keep me posted on you too!
aw i love that you call your little one your polar bear. congrats on the pregnancy. the first few months went by really slow for me as well but things picked up half way through and then it went by so fast!
stopping by from sits
awwww, look at that little poochy belly! i blew up like a whale last time i was preggers, so by week 10, i was looking like i swallowed a basketball ? nonetheless, that be band sounds ingenious! and yes, flowy summer dresses will be your best friends in the months to come!
i haven’t heard of the beband from Target…but the Bella Band and any product from http://www.ingridandisabel.com/ is amazing… I LOVED their stuff… I got two Bella bands — one in black with a lace fringe and one in white. I also got the white tank top, which I still wear because its so stretchy and long. If you are home, you can get them at Bellini at the Promenade. Best purchase ever. I wore my regular jeans until the end of my 7th month.
The Be Band is by the same company as the belly band, only it’s cheaper. I think there are less options too. i can’t believe you wore your regular jeans till the 7th month. I put mine on and I felt my butt being a little big. You were such a cute little pregnant person! I like the idea of the tank tops though from that site.
That is so amazing! Just 10 weeks old and already looks like a human being. So incredible.
I am in awe every time I think about it. ?
Wohoo for week 10! It’s amazing how they grow in there. Mashed potatoes were my lifesaver during my first pregnancy. It was all I could eat!! (well, and cool ranch doritos. Hey, who can explain cravings??)
Ah yes, the loss of the waistline, but not really showing yet. I remember those days. And I had to find a wedding dress…
Despite this and other inconveniences, I loved being pregnant. It doesn’t seem that long ago, yet I now have a 3 year old telling knock, knock jokes…
Happy SITS Day! Enjoy the comment love today.
This is so awesome! Enjoy your band….so you can keep wearing your favorite jeans!
Congratulations and happy SITS day!!
Just stopping by from SITS! Congrats on your day and your new addition!
Congratulations on your pregnancy. How wonderful for you! And congrats on being Queen for a Day. That’s how I found my way here.
Your blog design is adorable.
I’m only 36, but i’ve been married for almost 11 years and I’m still IN love with my man. I wish you the same.
Enjoy this special time. ?
I’ve never been pregnant – but I often wonder if pregnancy will fly by or if I will get impatient!
Enjoy your SITS day!
Congratulations!!! So, so exciting. I remember being obsessed with the weekly development sites. Soon enough time will fly. I found all the cliches to be true – cherish every moment, once the babe is out time speeds up exponentially, enjoy your “me” time to the fullest. All boring but true!!
Happy SITS feature day. I am going to snoop around some more.
If you like birth stories, come on by. I like to think of mine as inspiring as opposed to scary.
Congrats on your pregnancy!
