When it comes to art I am at a loss. I couldn’t tell you a good piece from a bad one, and most of the time what others like I dislike. What I do know is what I like. It’s always funny when I see a piece that I like. It’s almost instantaneous. I usually can’t explain why I like it….I just do. That is exactly what happened when I saw a piece of Edie Art.
The artist Edie grew up in the lowlands of Holland in a suburban street much like any other. Her homeland has contributed some of the great names in art history from Vermeer to Van Gogh. After a long winding journey Edie found herself in the United States and now currently lives and works in NYC.
The word that comes to mind when I see her pieces is whimsical. I instantly thought of my son, and although I think a lot of pieces cater to more of a female room, I found a bunch that would fit for my son perfectly. The use of colors and the theme of adventure shines out from all her pieces. I think her art is described best on Edie’s About Page….
All art is a sort of remembering. Edie’s paintings and drawings recall the naivety and the wonder of childhood. The characters in her stories (all art also tells a story) are amazed by the world around them.
Dangling on balloons over cities, gazing out on moonlit nights and blood red sunsets, their naive faces are an example to us all. They remind us that no matter how far you’ve come on your journey, the real voyage of discovery comes not by meeting new horizons but by seeing them with new eyes
One great place to buy a piece from Edie Art is on the Edie Art Etsy Page. You can buy an original piece or a print, but one thing I love is how affordable her prints can be. I went on her page and couldn’t pick just one. I have a feeling if you are looking for something for your kids room, or even a play room that you will definitely find something perfect there.
I wish I could post all of my favorites but I can’t. It would be too many. Don’t just take my word for it. Check out Edie’s website to see all her available artwork. If you are in the market for some great art pieces then you won’t be disappointed.
I was provided with Edie Art prints for the purposes of this review. As always all thoughts and opinions are my own.
