Dear Captain Awesome,

I always find myself getting sentimental on anniversaries. I guess that’s normal, but when I find myself reflecting on our years together I feel so blessed to have grown and shared so much with you. Although we have been married 8 years, we have been together for 15 years! We met as two crazy college fraternity/sorority nuts, and luckily somehow grew to responsible adults. People who are together that long can grow to love eachother more….or the unlucky ones grow up to be different people. I am so thankful that we fall into that first category. I love seeing the man you’ve become. You still make me laugh and smile as a woman, and when I see you with our children I know that together we make the best team.

I haven’t really checked but I am sure that each of my anniversary posts to you have been the same. Why? Because there is only so much one can say when they are happy about pretty much everything in their life. I feel thankful every day that you value my days home with our children, and have allowed me to follow my dream to be a stay at home mom. I know that you make sacrifices to make that happen, and work both day and night to make sure that we are financially safe. I’m not sure that people know how much work you do. You work all day, come home to spend time with your family, and do your other two jobs at night. I think what I love best is that you are happy to do it all. You enjoy your work, and all of it allows you so much time to be with us…your family.

After 15 years together (I know…we are supposed to be celebrating 8…but still) you are still my best friend. When I think of who I want to hang out with it’s always you (well almost always!), and always has been. I am so lucky to be able to feel this way. Don’t get me wrong….some days I want to ring your neck. Some days I just want to punch you in the face. But that’s OK right? That is what love is all about. Having good and bad days but still being there for each other no matter what.

So happy 8th anniversary Captain Awesome. You have made me one happy woman and I am thankful to you for so many things. I love you.
