Today I am thankful for my little Tinkerbell, my dog and my best friend. In the picture above she is wearing her “I’m the big sister” shirt I got her when Christian was born. If you think about kid who’s been an only child for 6 years before another sibling comes along you can imagine how it’s been for my little tinkerbell. Although I have a new baby that doesn’t mean that she is forgotten. On the contrary…I am always thankful for my little girl.
I can remember very vividly when my water broke for many reasons, but one of the thoughts that went through my mind was of Tinkerbell. When it was time to go to the hospital I remember feeling very sorry for her. I remember trying to explain to her how much I loved her and how sorry I was that life would never be the same for her (yes…I really did have this conversation with my dog). Those that know me and the relationship I have with my dog can understand that exchange a little more. I knew that when the baby came home that things would be different. I knew that she could no longer get my full attention. This was hard to accept.
Now, I think she has started to get used to our new life. She is still by my side every day. She still follows my every move, and she still sleeps by my side every night. Sometimes I catch a glimpse of her and Christian being friends. I just hope that they will the best of buddies.
Tinkerbell has been in my life for almost 7 years now, and I am thankful for her every day. She has been with me through so many joys and sorrows, and as silly as it may sound to some, she keeps me sane. If you have a pet you know what I mean…..they truly are our best friends.

I agree with you 100%. I have a small dog, Lucy. And when we recently had a new addition to our family I made sure to give her as much love and attention as always.
