Wow little girl, I can’t believe we are rounding the finish line of the second trimester!! I can finally say that time is starting to move quickly. I feel like I am such a different person than the one who found out she was pregnant back in January. That time and that experience seems so long ago! But now, with the summer upon us I have a feeling time is going to move VERY fast. We have one busy summer you and I little one. I hope you are ready to come along for the ride, and I hope that you treat your mommy well. Your little brother doesn’t leave me much time to relax and rest so there is no wallowing in pregnancy self pity in the coming months. So we are just going to have to work together.
You are one busy little girl in my belly! It’s mainly when I sit down but you are dancing all over the place! Your daddy has FINALLY felt you move, and I think your little brother has also. Both aren’t very good at being patient to wait it out till you move again, but maybe you are just playing a little game with them. Don’t worry. I sit and wait to feel you turn. Sometimes you surprise me with a real big kick. Those kicks remind me of what’s to come…ouch!
Your daddy and I ordered your nursery furniture! We chose a set of white and I will confess that I plan on making your room as girly as possible. It will be a room fit for a princess. We thought we had a ton of time to get it ready, but just 2 weeks after ordering they told us it was IN! It was supposed to take 6-8 weeks! I am not complaining, I’d rather it this way rather than late, but we have so much to do. Your mommy is planner and likes things done early so don’t worry….the room will be ready for you.
The good news is that I haven’t gained much weight thus far in the pregnancy, but I would say that’s because food still isn’t totally appealing to me. I’m not sick and I feel fine, but there is no real cravings which kind of bums me out. I’m ready to eat! Although, as I write this I am wondering if things are turning around because the past two days have brought me to the McDonald’s drive through due to extreme hunger, and now I am still hungry after the egg and cheese on an everything bagel I just inhaled. So I will keep you posted little one. Maybe I will regret complaining about not wanting food!
So lots of things need to get done. Time to get focused on your room and getting ourselves all prepared for your arrival. Waiting till the last minutes isn’t an option so I will be sure to get your daddy moving ASAP. Keep growing little girl…your mommy loves you.
Your baby’s growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at about 1 1/3 pounds. Since he’s almost a foot long (about the size of an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he’ll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing “branches” of the respiratory “tree” as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.
