Those in the “Disney Know” are aware that the “must see” restaurants and character meals book up fast. If you aren’t a planner, and think you are getting into one of these places “last minute” then you will be very disappointed. Reservations open 6 months in advance (I’m not kidding), and the big ones fill up very fast. We are traveling in May, and we were already too late to book dinner at the Be Our Guest restaurant. (I know…devastating). But luckily I got right into the booking process and I think we are going to get to almost every dining experience that we wanted. To those traveling with me I say…you’re welcome!
With the dining plan we are getting one quick meal, one snack, and one sit down dinner every day. The great thing is that some character meals are included as one of those sit down meals! Some of the more extravagant dining places will take up 2 of the sit down meals, so we are being careful which of those we choose because that will leave us paying for food for at least one day. So with out further ado…Here’s what I’ve booked so far!
The Crystal Palace
The Crystal Palace Inspired by Victorian greenhouses of the late 1800s is located in the Magic Kingdom. We will be hitting up the Magic Kingdom on our first full day, and being going to Crystal Palace for lunch. The Winnie The Pooh characters are the stars of this character breakfast! I chose to book lunch because I am not fully sure how well our little man will do by dinner. Navigating Magic Kingdom is a large task and I am worried that by dinner time he may be a bit crabby. So by doing lunch at least I know that he SHOULD still be in a good mood to meet the characters.
Chef Mickey
If you ask people to name a very good character meal that is included in the dining plan you most likely will hear about Chef Mickey. This meal is at the Contemporary resort and it’s here you can see Mickey and his friends. We are doing Chef Mickey for breakfast.
Guests at Chef Mickey’s may meet such Disney Characters as:
- Mickey Mouse
- Minnie Mouse
- Pluto
- Donald Duck
- Goofy
Spirit of Aloha Dinner
The Spirit of Aloha Dinner at the Polynesian resort is one that takes up 2 sit down meals. Funny thing, but when I went to Disney as a little girl we went to this show with my family. My parents tell me about the fortune they paid for us to go only to not eat a thing. Luckily I will use our meals for this dinner and it won’t feel so bad if the little mane doesn’t eat. We chose the 5:15 dinner.
Tusker House Restaurant
Wit our final sit down meal we decided to go to The Tusker House Restaurant in Animal Kingdom. This is a character meal and seems to have Safari Donald as it’s theme. I am not to sure what I will think of the African Themed food, but I have heard it is a good character options so we will give it a go. We are doing Tusker House as a lunch.
Coral Reef
At this point we are out of covered sit down meals, but I still booked a dinner at a the Coral Reef restaurant in Epcot. We are splitting up a day with Hollywood Studios in the morning and Epcot in the afternoon so it seems like a good option. I think the little man (as well as Captain Awesome) will enjoy the aquarium theme. I just hope we get a table by the actual tanks.
With all the dining booking up quick I feel like I should book more just in case. I can cancel up to 24 hours in advance, and would love to have options just in case our park plans change. But this is what we have booked for now.
Do you have any “must see” suggestions in terms of dining? Am I missing out on anything big?
