When I was given the opportunity to get tickets for an advanced screening of Disney’s Prince of Persia, Sands of Time I didn’t really hesitate much before I accepted. First of all, who doesn’t like going to see a FREE movie, and second of all, who wouldn’t want to see it before it even comes out to the public?? How cool am I? To be honest I wasn’t very sure how much I’d like this movie. Would I be able to accept Jake Gyllenhaal as an action hero? I had never seen the video game, so would I appreciate the story? Well the answer is YES to both of those questions! I really thought the movie was good!
I am a huge fan of all things Disney, and I should’ve known that this movie, done by Disney wouldn’t disappoint. Jerry Bruckheimer produced the movie, and he also produced the “Pirates of the Caribbean” series which I enjoyed. The synopsis on IMDB.com makes it sound kind of dumb, but I figured I would share anyway.
Set in medieval Persia, the story of an adventurous prince who teams up with a rival princess to stop an angry ruler from unleashing a sandstorm that could destroy the world. Which is why after the prince was tricked by a dying Vizier to unleash the Sands of Time that turns out to destroy a kingdom and transforms its populace into ferocious demons. In his effort to save his own kingdom and redeem his fatal mistake, it’s up to the prince and the princess to return the sands to the hourglass by using the Dagger of Time, which also gives him a limited control over the flow of time
Jake Gyllenhall really played a great hero. I doubted it from the commercials. Not that he isn’t smoking hot…I always thought so, but I just had never seen him in that sort of role. But I promise he doesn’t disappoint. His baby blues look better than ever in this movie, especially when they costar with his great abs! And if Jake Gyllenhaal isn’t enough of a draw for the ladies, then the cute love story going on between the Prince, and the Princess (although very predictable) is an added bonus. Don’t get me wrong, this is a guys movie at it’s core, but it doesn’t mean that it won’t offer entertainment for the ladies too.
The movie covers all the bases…Action, Adventure, Mystery, Suspense, Romance and even some great comedic relief. You have to take it for what it’s worth…a movie based on a video game, so really enjoy the great scenery, the great stunts, and the beautiful actors. If you can do that, I promise you won’t be disappointed. This movie critic gives Prince of Persia: Sands of Time a big thumbs up!

I was given free tickets to this movie, but all thoughts and opinions as always are my own. You can always trust me to be honest!
Now I’m stoked to see it. Thanks for the review.
I’ve never been a huge Jake Gyllenhaal fan but he looks super hot in this movie so I have to see it.
I used to do movie reviews for a newspaper when my husband and I were newlyweds. Free tickets were great, but after awhile, too many movies can burn you out! However, I must admit, a handsome star can help carry the day – eye candy can make up for a bad plot!
Ya I am sure if you have to go to movies all the time it gets old..lol but for now its fun! ?
I am so looking forward to seeing this! It looks great!
My husband played the video game. Good to know the movie is okay if we end up seeing it.
We’ve been considering seeing this movie cause it looks like a rocking good time ? And Jake Gyllenhall doesn’t hurt…nom nom
I have been hearing about his Abs in this movies…..now you have me intrigued.
Prince of Persia is definitely one of the best movies this year..:”
