My mom always made a point of it. She has wreaths and flower arrangements and all sorts of decorations for each holiday/season. My favorite season of course is Christmas. Growing up we had bins and bins of holiday decorations. Each year the family would get together, put on Christmas music and decorate the house together.(we still do this today) It was a large task, but we always enjoyed it. My mom must’ve passed the seasonal decorating gene onto me, because now I decorate my own home in the same manner. For my bridal shower my bridesmaids each were given a season in which to buy decorations for. They put the decorations in bins, and now each season when I go to decorate I can remember the special people who gave them to me. My mother in law also put together a beautiful bin and basket of seasonal decorations. So between the group of them I was all set! Now, in my attic I have bins separated by season, so that when it comes time to decorate, I just need to carry down those particular bins!

Fall is probably my 2nd favorite season to decorate for. You have the beautiful rich colors and when your house is decorated for fall it just feels very warm. I can’t believe my fall bin is almost ready to make its trip down from the attic. Where did the summer go?

So if you are a seasonal decorator like I am make it easy on yourself. Separate out your storage bins by season. This way, when the time comes to decorate for that particular season you won’t need to be sifting through bins or boxes or random decorations in your attic or basement. This technique definitely saves you time and energy.

I can not believe that we just celebrated the July 4th weekend! I have a sinking feeling that this summer is going to fly by, and I am pretty sad about that. Summer brings out all of my favorite things and as sad as it is, once we hit July reminders of the eminent colder weather will begin to surface. Do they really need to start selling fall clothing now? And Halloween decorations? Give me a break!

I find it amazing that soon the time will come where the bathingsuits and summer clothes are all sold out. This is when the fall clothing starts to appear on the racks, and any item that you would want to buy to wear now is a thing of the past. This is very hard for me to wrap my brain around. Why do I want to buy a sweater now that will just sit in my closet for months? Maybe I’ll gain or lose ten pounds by November…do I want a pair of pants that fit me now if they won’t fit me then? Right now my fall/winter clothes are in a bin in my attic. I have zero clue what I will want or need next season.

Another baffling thing is the seasonal decorations. I am a HUGE fan of decorating for each season. I have bins of items that come out with each corresponding season. But with the fall/Halloween decorations coming out now, I have no idea what items I will need until I open my bin! And by the time I do decide what I need the stores have moved on to the next season! Can I be the only one who finds this annoying? Do people really buy things now that will not show up in their homes for another 3 to 4 months???

I have been off shopping for a while now, so I guess it helps that I don’t have to see the transition in the stores. It will just bother me more. I will stick to enjoying the summer weather and get the most out of the current season that we are experiencing. No need to rush the cold by any means. So now I will say welcome to July! I hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

I think I am just very angry by the fact that it’s April 21st, and it’s COLD! I mean, it’s almost winter weather cold. I find this to be pretty unacceptable.

North Eastern Weather

Living in the North East, I always heard how wonderful it is to have 4 seasons. That’s what the North Easterner’s boast about! They’ll say “I could never move out of the area. I would miss the 4 seasons”. But I got to tell ya…we don’t seem to be having 4 seasons anymore! I’ll go as far as saying that we only have TWO seasons. Summer and Winter. And the majority of those two seasons I have to believe falls to Winter, so this is when I have to ask….Should we really be worrying about global warming?

Personally, I think it’s actually getting colder year after year. This year, the cold set in at the end of October, and so far it seems to be continuing through April. What is that about? 7 months of cold?? That’s over half the year! So what now? We get a week or two of mild weather and then we jump straight into the hot summer days. Personally I would be happy with the 3 seasons. Spring, Summer and Fall, but it looks like Winter is dominating.

So this post is really just a rant about my hatred for the weather we are currently having. I have never really lived anywhere but the North East, but do you think that the weather has been changing elsewhere too? Feel free to comment here about anything weather related. I know there is nothing I can do to change it, but sometimes it just feels good to complain!
