Sound the horns and start the drums! It’s time for all the fanfare that a Queen for a day would get! (wait…does a Queen for a day get fanfare?) I say she does! And this Queen is ready for her tiarra (which is still sitting on a shelf in my living room after my wedding two years ago that I can’t seem to part with), and a nice comfy chair to sit in to put her feet up so others can serve her….I sound delusional you say? FINE! I guess you are right. But I still get to FEEL like a Queen for a day since today is FINALLY my SITS day! The day I have been waiting for for about a year!

Welcome my SITStas! I hope you enjoy yourself today as you browse around my little world here at After The Alter. For those of you who don’t know what SITS is…The Secret is in The Sauce.. it is a  group of  women bloggers dedicated to supporting one another by leaving comments. And I am not sure there is anything bloggers like more than comments is there? I know I certainly like to feel the love! So I hope for all the new people visiting today, you find you like it here. If you really like it here then I’d love if you became a “google friend” by clicking over there to the right, and if you REALLY like it here I’d love for you to join my blog frog community (which you can also do over to the right). There, I am really trying to build a community that focuses on the joys of marriage. I think it can be a great place for people to come together and share! On top of those two ways to get involved in this great marriage community I also have an After The Alter Facebook Fan Page! Here I put up each days new post, as well as post a question of the day to my readers. I also encourage those to blog about marriage to share their stories here also!

Now let me tell you a little about myself and my blog. My name is Jen and I am a 29 year old (Turning 30 this June! Yikes!), work at home wife, who dreams of being a stay at home mom.  As you will see  After The Alter is spelled with an “e” in alter. That is because this blog is about my life after being married as well as all the changes that go along with it! And boy what changes have come during my almost two years as a married woman. On June 14, 2008 I married my best friend. On this blog he is known as Captain Awesome. We are college sweethearts, and have been together nine years total, and married for almost two. We have our beautiful 3.5 lb Pomeranian Tinkerbell, and we live in a townhouse in Long Island. I am originally from Pennsylvania, and you may just happen to see a bunch of posts about my dislike for Long Island…but as The Captain constantly reminds me I have been here since 1998 so I should get used to it! I pretty much blog about everything from my love for Martoonis (aka Martinis), to picking on Captain Awesome, to Wifey 101 posts about marriage. Pretty much anything that comes into my head…goes back out onto this blog.

It was tough to pick 3 of my favorite posts, since there is so much I want to share with you. But in the spirit of following the rules here goes!

I guess we can start off with a piece I wrote on our 1 Year Anniversary! One Year Down and Many More to Go! It’s hard for me to put in words how much I love my husband, and how blessed I am to have him in my life, but at least this can give you a little idea about us.

This next piece isn’t necessarily a happy piece, but it does say a lot about where my blog went shortly after our 1 year anniversary. This post about Our Loss, began a series of posts about my miscarriage. I wanted to be open and honest about it. From there my blog kind of turned into a Trying to Conceive blog, since I began a long journey of trying to reach my dream of becoming a mother.

The good news is that after 7 months of TTC post miscarriage Captain Awesome and I DID conceive, and we have a little miracle on the way. I am happy to report I am about 10weeks pregnant! And here is my big blog announcement about my pregnancy: We Have A Bean!

So thanks for stopping by today! I hope you choose to stick around!
