So today (Tuesday) begins my tenth week of pregnancy. I’d like to say that time has flown, but I would be lying. And I would not like to lie to you my readers. As a matter of fact time seems to be going rather slow. I guess if you consider I got my BFP in early April, and it is now currently mid May, time is definitely moving on. But I would say its like waiting for water to boil….it just takes time. As always I am just waiting for my next appointment. The next appointment is that big one that marks the end of the first trimester. Three more weeks to go!

Last week I took a big step and bought a Be Band from Target. If you don’t know what that is, it’s a stretchy band that goes around your waist so that you can continue to wear your regular pants, only you don’t button them. That’s right, I’ve hit that awkward stage in my pregnancy where I am just bloated and look like I have a beer gut. (see picture above) No dear friends, it’s not cute at all. My clothes don’t really fit, but I don’t want to buy maternity clothes yet. I am just looking forward to warmer weather when I can start to wear my summer dresses. I think they will fit nicely for now.

All the symptoms I have been having are still there. I am absolutely exhausted pretty much all the time, most food sounds horrible to me, and I am still starving ALL the time. I have found that eating smaller meals through out the day helps a bit. Last week I was so hungry that I ate way too much of a chicken salad sandwhich on a bagel and I got sick. Now, that one food I was craving no longer sounds so appetizing anymore. Bummer! I get indigestion very easily, and get ready for TMI but every night I get horrible gas pains. Don’t worry, The Captain doesn’t get the brunt of that..I still follow my bodily functions rule from before. But don’t think I wouldn’t just let one go if I could…nope that gas likes to just sit right inside my stomach. Ahhh the joys.

I’ve got to say I’m pretty lucky. The symptoms really aren’t that bad. Our little Pooh Bear thus far is treating me well. I look forward to each week being one step closer to when I get to see Pooh Bear again. Week ten will be no different. So let’s take a look at what is going on with little Pooh Bear this week! It’s amazing what new things happen each week!

Pregnancy Week Ten

Though he’s barely the size of a kumquat — a little over an inch or so long, crown to bottom — and weighs less than a quarter of an ounce, your baby has now completed the most critical portion of his development. This is the beginning of the so-called fetal period, a time when the tissues and organs in his body rapidly grow and mature.

He’s swallowing fluid and kicking up a storm. Vital organs — including his kidneys, intestines, brain, and liver (now making red blood cells in place of the disappearing yolk sac) — are in place and starting to function, though they’ll continue to develop throughout your pregnancy.

If you could take a peek inside your womb, you’d spot minute details, like tiny nails forming on fingers and toes (no more webbing) and peach-fuzz hair beginning to grow on tender skin.

In other developments: Your baby’s limbs can bend now. His hands are flexed at the wrist and meet over his heart, and his feet may be long enough to meet in front of his body. The outline of his spine is clearly visible through translucent skin, and spinal nerves are beginning to stretch out from his spinal cord. Your baby’s forehead temporarily bulges with his developing brain and sits very high on his head, which measures half the length of his body. From crown to rump, he’s about 1 1/4 inches long. In the coming weeks, your baby will again double in size — to nearly 3 inches.

I love the Baby Center updates! Amazing huh? Pooh Bear is now a fetus!!
