Dear Tessa,

Have you really been with us for a month already? Boy does time fly! I am still amazed every day that we are lucky enough to have you in our lives. I have been lucky enough to have the luxury of spending a ton of time just me and you due to the help of our wonderful family. Soon enough you will be carted around to all of your brother’s activities, but for this first month I got to cuddle you, feed you on demand (which is a lot!), and get to know you. What I know is that you are a sweet little girl with such an easy disposition. That is until you are hungry, then everyone look out and jump at your demand. Other than that you really don’t make a peep, and you always make me smile.

You currently weight 9.3 lbs and are 21 inches. Coming into this world at 7.5 lbs it seems that I am making enough milk to help you grow which is wonderful. I am not surprised because you tend to like to eat a lot! Pretty much every 2-3 hours and sometimes even sooner. Basically whenever you wake up. That means if it takes me 30 minutes to feed you, I am back on call every hour and a half to 2 and a half hours. The task is daunting, but so far it has been working. I’m not going to lie. I love being able to hold and cuddle you while you nurse. It really is such a special time. The good news is that you go at least 3 hours at night, sometimes 4, and go right back to sleep after. That is all I could ask of a newborn, although I am not going to lie…I am looking forward to a few more uninterrupted hours of sleep.

Your big brother loves you more than I could’ve imagined. He wants you around always and I have to contain his desire to kiss and hug you. He even has begun asking to carry you which is a no go…so I have to watch out for that. He wants you around for book reading time, bath time, bed time, and play time. Let’s hope this love continues when you get bigger. For now it is so amazing to watch.

You like to be held up over my shoulder and having your back rubbed or patted is your kryptonite. Your activity mat is one of your favorite spots, and you even enjoy cooing and talking to the toys on there. It’s amazing how much I forget what it was like when your brother was a newborn, but it’s good because I get to experience it all new. What I do remember is that each day is different and not to expect any sort of schedule any time soon.

I have enjoyed this first month of our lives together. My daughter, my princess, my little girl…you are amazing. I can’t wait to see what each month brings us! You have so much growing to do my dear. I love you!

Love, Mommy
