I haven’t participated in The Diaper Diarie’s Things I Love Thursday for a while, and I figured it was time!

Since becoming pregnant I have found sleeping through the night a process. If I’m not up peeing, then I’m tossing and turning due to being uncomfortable. And now that I’ve hit the 20 week mark it’s gotten even worse. Everyone mentioned trying a pregnancy pillow, but I found that they were so expensive, so I tried everything else in the book. Unfortunately, that did not work! So I needed to bring in some reinforcements. After doing some research I found that alot of people recommended the Snoogle. It’s a big, long pillow that wraps around your body, providing support for head, back, and legs. Since I continued to procrastinate getting one it took my mom to generously buy me one before I could see the true genious of this pillow! Pregnant women, and non pregnant women…I’m telling you this pillow is AWESOME!

I hesitated writing this post because I was upset with the company for not responding to my e mails. I understand that they didn’t want to send me a free Snoogle…fine whatever…but at least write back and tell me that you pass. So I didn’t want to give this pillow free press…BUT…it is so comfortable that I just had to share. It would be unfair of me not to! How could I keep this to myself??

Basically the pillow is great no matter which way you sleep. They say the best position for a pregnant woman is on her left side (more nutrients get to baby), but personally I tend to sleep on all sides, and even my back (but don’t tell anyone!). No matter what this pillow offers support. It’s great head support and relieves pressure from my shoulders. For some reason my left shoulder hurts when I sleep on my left side…not anymore! If you sleep facing away from the pillow it is almost as if someone is spooning your back. It gives such great comfort! If you turn towards the pillow you get to snuggle up with some of the pillow resting nicely between your knees! Great for your back! Like I said no matter what it’s got you covered.

So no…I didn’t get anything for writing this post, only honest to goodness opinion. This pillow is pretty bad ass, and I figure I will continue to use it even when I’m NOT pregnant. Word on the street is that it will be helpful during breast feeding time too! Perfect! I highly recommend you giving it a try.

The great people from POM Wonderful Pomegranate Juice contacted me and sent me a case of their wonderful pomegranate juice and I have been using it regularly over the past couple of weeks. I have always loved adding Pom juice to my water, but with the juice they also sent me many great facts about Pom juice. I also searched through their website and found many other great ways to use the wonderful and healthy juice. So I thought I’d share with you some things I learned.

I did know about this brand of Pom juice, and I have used it in the past. The Captain and I like to add a bunch to our water to add flavor, and a bit of health benefits. I never truly knew ALL the benefits until I got the information from POM Wonderful. As it turns out POM Wonderful has provided $32 million to fund world class scientific research on pomegranates resulting in over 45 published studies…that’s a lot of words to say that they have facts to back up their claims.

Pomegranate Juice Health Benefits

Research has shown the drinking 8 oz of Pom juice daily can benefit you cardiovascularly, help your prostate and with erectile function (dudes you should get on this). And the one that I already knew about is the antioxidant potency. It says it has more antioxidants than red wine…so maybe I just have to double up on my red wine intake to balance it out???

Another thing I just learned is that you can use the juice in a lot of recipes! I had no idea! So I decided to give it a try. My contact at Pom Wonderful recommended that I try the POM velvet cupcakes, and I should’ve taken her suggestion. I decided instead to try to make a chicken recipe. But I failed…I was so bummed! I can’t put my finger on what I did wrong but I definitely burned the pan sauce. So next time I will stick with baking. The recipesand the pictures on the website look too irresistable not to try! They have a recipe for Pom Tiramisu that I have my eye on.

I was happy to learn that there is more to the POM juice than meets the eye. It has a lot of health benefits, but it’s also very yummy…and as it turns out works great for cooking!

To see more of what other people love…stop on over at The Diaper Diaries for Things I Love Thursday!

The weather is turning colder here in the north east, and we have had our heat turned of for at least the last month. Once the heat is turned on the air becomes extremely dry…and in turn so does my skin. Attractive right? My skin becomes dry, my boogers become dry (gross but come on you know it’s true) and my clothes become staticky. It all kind of stinks. So in order to fight it all, I use one of my favorite items I got at my bridal shower…A Humidifier!!

I personally use the Enviracaire Warm Mist Humidifier. Here are the features:

Humidifier features a dual germicidal process – ultraviolet light and vaporization – that kills up to 99.999% of boiling-resistant spores, bacteria and mold. Plus, this 3.5 gallon water capacity humidifier runs for 24 hours continuously without a refill. The mineral absorption pads minimize mineral build-up, and there is no white dust build-up in your room. Features a manual humidity level control with low to high output settings, a refill indicator light, a medicine cup accessory and a handle on lift-out tank

I do not run it all day, but I do turn it on at night when I go to bed. I’m not sure if it’s all in my head, but so far I have been healthy this season, with no hard boogers (again I’m sorry). I also find the sound of the mist extremely soothing. It’s almost like a white noise machine! Also, I have yet to use the medicine vapor feature, but I can imagine how that would be a comforting tool during those nights of congestion.

The Benefit Of Humidifiers:

Can relieve dry scratchy skin

Reduce susceptibility to infection by keeping the mucus membranes of your throat and nasal passages moist allowing the tiny hairs (cilia) in both to work at expelling foreign objects such as mold, pet dander and bacteria.

Can help relieve cold symptoms by making the air you breath moist, which helps keep your lungs more elastic.

Reduce static electricity, thus reducing the tiny shocks received from touching certain objects and other people.

Reduce nosebleeds, as the air you breathe is moist.

For all you mothers out there, humidifiers also help keep your children healthy. Especially for babies. Based on this article in Associated Content

To improve humidity levels in the home, the pediatrician’s recommendation to utilize a steam room humidifier is effective. In the winter, especially, the air inside and outside of our homes becomes excessively dry leading to dry skin and drying of the mucous membranes. For a baby who is ill, the drying affect may further complicate the baby’s breathing capacity. Such conditions may persist until a steam humidifier is utilized.

So my battle with dry flaky winter skin continues, but I really think the humidifier is a great tool to lessen the effects. Do you use one?

The latest product that was sent to me was the Glade Sense & Spray Automatic Freshener. People who know me know that I am obsessed with scents. I use the Glade scented oils in my outlets, I always have a candle burning, and my bathroom is filled with lotions that I use on a nightly basis. When I got this air freshener I wasn’t sure how I’d like the fact that it only sprays when it senses someone in the room because I like more of a round the clock fragrance, but I really think that this product is a great tool in making your house smell great!

Glade Sense & Spray: The Inside Scoop

Basically the Glade Sense and Spray is motion activated. There are two ways to get it to spray.

The sensor detects motion (up to 5 feet away)

Someone presses the boost button on the front of the unit

I currently have mine in my kitchen, but I also think it could be useful in the bathroom. I think this product would work best in those rooms because they are both places where you may get undesirable “smells”. Sometimes you just need a little extra help to get a room smelling great! Another great thing is that once it sprays it locks down for 30 minutes so that you don’t waste the spray, and the cartridge lasts a long time.

The bottom line? I love this product in ADDITION to other types of fresheners when it comes to using it in most rooms of the house.

I think they are wonderful animals that only want to give you unconditional love, and that every home would be even more blessed if it housed a dog. Recently I found a wonderful show on Animal Planet that gives wonderful information about different breeds of dogs. It’s called Dogs 101.

I always had a dog growing up, but when it came time to get my first dog as an adult I had a lot to think about. There is so much more to getting a dog than most people know. Each breed is different and brings different traits to the table. Every person looking to get a dog should look into what type of traits the particular dog you want brings. Dogs 101 recently did a show that featured Pomeranians. If you want to catch the clip you can see it here. They hit the nail on the head about everything I had learned about Poms when first wanting to get one. What’s great about the show is that it talks about both the positives and negatives of the breed, so that you can see if that particular breed is right for you.

Here is what it said about the Pomeranian Breed:

Average 4-6 lbs: When I got Tinkerbell I was living in an apartment. I knew that I couldn’t have a bigger dog, and as much as I would’ve been happy with a dog from a shelter, I knew I needed a dog which was purebred so that I could meet both the mother and father and know how big she was going to be.

Versatile, can live anywhere

Bark Excessively: The show says that you need to train Poms early to make sure they don’t bark. I got lucky and my Tinkerbell is not a barker.

Lives 12-15 years: Thank goodness! Although my Tinkerbell is going to live forever, it’s good to know they have a long life expectancy.

Prone to Early Tooth Loss

Constant Shedders: Tinkerbell goes to get groomed every 2 weeks. They make sure she is always looking pretty. If you are allergic to dogs this isn’t the breed for you.

Happy Dogs and Love their families: This is certainly true.

Not recommended for families with young children: Since Poms are so little you need to be careful with small children picking them up.

Head Strong: This is true. Tinkerbell owns me…she runs this house and does what she wants. But she is just so cute and lovable!

I have heard so many stories where people buy a dog because they like how it looks, only to find out that it’s rowdy, or sheds, or got too big. Then they bring it to the shelter. It’s not the dogs fault, and they should not get punished for your lack of research. That’s why I think Dogs 101 is such a great show!

So here is my PSA. Take the time to research your dog breed before you go to buy one. It is very easy to get caught up in the emotion of the cute puppy, but that puppy grows up, and takes on the traits of it’s breed, so you should be well aware of what you are getting into. Check your local listings for dogs 101 to see if the breed you are interested in gets featured, or if you look at the Animal Planet website you can find other dog resources.

One more note….don’t buy ANY dog from a pet store. Check out my post about puppy mills and you will see where that cute little puppy came from.

Annie Sez is similar to the other stores in that it sells designer names and brands for discounted prices. The only difference that I find is that you have to do much less rack searching to make a score when shopping here.

I love sales, but I hate the hunt of the perfect sale. I have no time to sift through racks and racks of random clothes to make the big score. Annie Sez does offer those ridiculous discounts and has the racks, but most of the store looks more like a department store.

One of my favorite things to buy at Annie Sez is the formal wear. It has great prices on dresses and gowns that are perfect for weddings or any formal affair. The best part is that you don’t have to pay the department store prices. What else to the sell? Casual wear (best prices on designer jeans) for both the old and the young, bathing suits, coats, pajamas, under garments, bags/purses, accessories, and shoes….lots of shoes….boy do I love shoes..ok I digress.

I am very lucky to have this store by me. It’s my go to spot if I need an outfit to go pretty much anywhere because they have pretty much everything, and at a price that I can afford. Since I am still Off shopping I try not to go often and only for the essentials (essentials being a kick ass outfit for whatever event is coming up).

So check out the Annie Sez Website for a store near you. I doubt you’ll be disappointed. I know I never am.

I LOVE going out to dinner. It’s not actually where we go out to dinner that I care about, it’s that I just like the act of going out to eat. That means I am just as happy eating out at Friday’s as I am going to a nice fancy restaurant. Yes, this is true. I am a boring and cheap date. Good food is most of the time lost on me. I am just as happy at Outback Steak House as I am at Morton’s Steak House. Do I like fancy dinners? SURE! Do I want to pay for them? NO! Personally, I think it’s a good quality to have. My husband doesn’t need to spend a lot to make me happy, but sometimes…I know he wishes that I enjoyed “good” food a little more often.

Well, we found a compromise. And that compromise can be found at Restaurant.com. This site is amazing! You just put in your city or zip code and a list of restaurants in your area pop up. There you will see that you can buy gift certificates for restaurants for like HALF of what you pay for them! Like a $25 gift certificate for $10. How great is that? The even better part is you print them right from your computer. NO WAITING! You decide last minute to go out to eat…you check Restaurant.com and BAM! You get $25 off your meal.

There is only 1 downfall to this deal and that’s that some restaurants sell out quick. So I recommend checking in at the beginning of the month to make sure you get the certificates before they sell out.

Now here is an even BETTER deal! From now until 9/21 you can get an extra 60% when you use the word ENJOY in the promotional code section at check out. You certainly can’t beat that deal.

I hope you find this site to be as useful as I do. Check out what other people Love over at The Diaper Diaries for Things I Love Thursday!

For this weeks Things I Love Thursday I wanted to talk about a group that is trying to do some good in this world. We all have our charities that we donate to, and causes that hit close to home, but this group is out there trying to raise awareness about a topic that even if you can’t relate to personally, you know someone who can, and its a topic that we all fear. That topic is Cancer, and more specifically Gynecologic Cancer. N.E.D: No Evidence of Disease is a group of six oncology surgeons from across the United States that have joined together to create a band to compose original music in order to distribute their message. The name of the band represents the hope that every gynecologic oncologist has for every patient…that at the end of treatment, their disease will be gone.

I was recently contacted by someone who asked if I would post a widget on my site linking to the N.E.D. website. Since I had never heard of this group, I was a bit baffled but agreed to take the time to listen to their new CD which they had sent to me. The CD is a mix of folk and rock. It is a very enjoyable CD, and most importantly the music sends a message.

The mission of the band is to enhance knowledge about gynecologic cancers to save lives, as well as to bring hope through music to women undergoing treatment and to the world at large.

With songs such as Rhythm Heals, Life Force and Waiting on Time, you find yourself listening to the lyrics and understanding how this music could inspire those in need. You can hear some of the songs here on the N.E.D Website . The website also shares more of the bands mission. Basically the band began as a cover band and performed at medical conferences that are dedicated to improving cancer care for women. Over time N.E.D. has become a movement with the belief that music can serve many purposes. Not only can it entertain, but it can also educate and heal.

The N.E.D website is also a great source of information that will help all women. They offer a section called What Every Woman Should Know. Every woman out there should be aware and read this section. We are all responsible for our bodies, and being educated can help save your life or the lives of others.

Cancer terrifies me. I hate it, and fear it and hope that I will be alive one day to see the cure. Did you know that over 80,000 women are affected by gynecologic cancer in the United States each year? Some of the major gynecological cancers include major cervical cancer, endometrial cancer and ovarian cancer. The gynecological Cancer Foundation is a N.E.D supporter, whose goal is to promote public awareness about the prevention, early detection and treatment of gynecologic cancers. You can find a lot of great information on their site.

September is Gynecological Cancer awareness month, so please help spread the word. If you’d like to donate you can do so here

The bummer is that it was a special “Christmas Time” product and therefore doesn’t exist anymore. But after looking into it I found something similar and thought that I would share. I LOVE the Sephora Brand make up kits!

When Santa asked me what I wanted for Christmas I was browing through a magazine and found this eye shadow kit. It had like 50 different shades of eye shadows, all in one nice case. It was perfect! I tend to stick to browns and purples, but always like to experiement but I don’t want to buy a bunch of different two color sets…so when I stumbled upon this set I thought it was great! And the good news was it wasn’t expensive! Not when you think of what it would cost to buy 50 shades of eyeshadow! I have been using it since then and the colors are great!

Take the Sephora Brand Palet that appears in the picture on this post.

Sephora Brand Set Contains

- 20 x eyeshadow shades
- Compact powder
- 4 x blush shades
- 24 x lip gloss shades
- 2 x double-ended applicators
- 2 x lip gloss brushes
- Powder and blush brush
- Built-in mirror
- Sleek compact case

And it’s only $34! Just think how great this kit would be to travel with? You have your make up needs all in one little compact case! I think Sephora is great in general since you can get so many great brands all in one store, and they have everything out so you can try. That part is my favorite. I am actually a huge sucker when it comes to make up…and even a bigger sucker when they offer to put the make up on me..I must have a sign on my forehead that reads WILL BUY WHATEVER MAKE UP YOU PUT ON ME. But the bright side with this product is that it’s all in one!

So next time you are in Sephora don’t pass by the Sephora brand. They are great products and best of all you won’t break the bank when you buy them. To other things people love check out the Diaper Diaries Things I love Thursday.

So much so that EVERY DAY of high school, a peanut butter sandwich was packed into my lunch. I could eat peanut butter every day and not get tired of it. Now that is love folks. Growing up, Jifwas the peanut butter brand of choice in my house, and it still is today. I am sure any peanut butter lover would tell you that they can definitely tell the difference between peanut butter brands…and I am here to tell you it’s true. Over the years I have never strayed. I am an avid crunchy peanut butter lover, but will eat the creamy kind if it’s what is available. Now let’s bring my husband into the picture. He takes lots of vitamins, and believes that things like tea tree oil and oil of oregano will cure his hurting tooth that needs a root canal. (so not true but I digress) My husband also likes natural peanut butter…and before I go into the whole background I gotta tell ya…it’s good!

My husband and I always had 2 jars of peanut butter. His natural and my regular. A while back when I began to get a little weight conscious I decided I would give his natural peanut butter a try…and although I will admit it’s not the same as the standard Jif peanut butter it was really good! Now you may be asking why, if I love regular peanut butter so much would I write about natural peanut butter in a Things I Love Thursday post…well the answer is because I do actually really like it! It still has great peanut butter taste, but also is healthier for me..so why not love it??

My husband being the Natural Peanut butter lover that he is has found other brands of the natural peanut butter to be healthier, and this is true. I actually do also like those brands even though you have to stir them and stuff. Jif’s natural brand has more of a consistency of their regular brand. The nutritional values aren’t as good as the others, but if you are looking to be even the littlest bit healthier, but worry about the taste then this stuff is for you.

I will admit that when it comes to the tried and true peanut butter and jelly sandwich I stick with my regular crunchy Jif. But when it comes to peanut butter on my toast for breakfast or peanut butter spread on apples or crackers I choose the natural kind. It does the trick and still tastes great! So I give it my stamp of approval (for whatever that’s worth)

So if you want to see what other people love go over to The Diaper Diaries and join the Things I Love Thursday conversation!
