BlogHer 2010 Conference

Well dear readers the time has come for After The Alter to hit the big time. What does that mean? Well this little lady will be attending her FIRST Blog Conference on Friday!! YAY!! Ok, I think I exaggerated there. In reality I will be a VERY little fish in a VERY big pond at this years BlogHer 2010 Conference in NYC.

What is a blog conference you may ask? Well really it’s like any other work type conference. It’s a place to meet other bloggers, network, and learn. I am personally looking forward to meeting some of the bloggers that I have connected with on Twitter, and through their blogs. I know I will be meeting my Votre Vue Sponsor and bloggy friend Pamela, who’s blog is Skin Care In The City. I plan to also meet up with Jenn of The Road To Happiliy Ever After, and Daneen of His and Hers Infertility. Also, I am hoping to meet Jen  of  Baby Making Machine. I follow her blog regularly and have spoken to her on the phone, so hopefully we can make it work. In the end there will be a few thousand bloggers all trying to do the same thing. I just hope that I don’t get too lost in the crowd!

Here’s what my schedule looks like thus far:

Thursday Night: AOL Party: Outside of the conference is separate little parties that are invite only. Being a conference Newbie I didn’t know much about this, but was very excited when I got invited to this event. I think it will be a great start because I hear that it will be smaller, and I think small will give me a good opportunity to meet more people.

Friday: Friday begins the conference for me. I am bummed that I won’t make it to the newbie breakfast at 8, but since I am taking the train in from Long Island, I knew planning on an 8:00 arrival just wasn’t in the cards. Especially since I’m 5 months pregnant and this will be a long day as it is.

9:30am – 10:00am Speed Dating, BlogHer-style
10:00am – 10:30am Morning Break  At this time I am hoping to check out the sponsors booth

10:30am – 11:45am 1st Break out session. I’m just not sure which one I want to go to yet!

11:45am – 1:15pm Lunch

1:15pm – 2:30pm Another Break out session in which I’m not sure which one to go to…

2:45pm – 4:00pm I’m thinking I’ll go to either Professional: ROYO – Social Media is Bringing Sexy Back to Branding — Do You Have the Social Media Strategy and Tools for Success? or Geek Lab: ROYO – How to Take Great Pictures, Whether You Have a DSLR or Point-and-Shoot (since I’d love to know how to do that!)

4:00pm – 4:45pm – At 4:00 I have a meeting with the company Kolcraftto hopefully become one of their Kolcraft mom’s! This would give me the opportunity to try and review their products! After that I am free to browse and chat!

5:00- Meet up with some Bloggy friends!

4:45pm – 6:00pm Community Keynote: BlogHer Voices of the Year
6:00pm – 7:00pm Reception
7:00pm – 10:00pm Gala Welcome Party and Art Auction

I am going to do my best to do it all, but I have a feeling that by the end of the day I’m going to be EXHAUSTED! I just hope to get the most out of it that I can! I only signed up for Friday’s festivities, because in reality I had no sponsorship this year, and it was expensive to go. Maybe next year I will be just so big and huge that EVERYONE will want to sponsor me to go! lol (I know, I know, only in my dreams) But I am excited and ready to  learn. So if you are going, and see a lost blonde haird pregnant woman, please come over and say hi!
