With all this hoo haa going on about Tiger Woods, I think it’s only appropriate that I put my two cents in…don’t I always? What the heck was that man thinking?? Ok, he obviously was not thinking with his BRAIN…but come on..REALLY? You decided to cheat on your wife…the mother of your children with a girl who went on TOOL ACADEMY?? Have you seen that show?

Ok all jokes aside I think cheating is the most awful and disrespectful thing you can do to your spouse or significant other. Relationships are based on trust, and when you cheat you destroy the basis of your relationship. I was watching an Oprah episode a while back about “why men cheat” and it was extremely interesting. The study was done by marriage counselor M. Gary Neuman for his book “The Truth About Cheating”. Based on an article on CNN.com He found..

The Number 1 Reason Men Cheat:

What’s the number one reason men cheat? Ninety-two percent of men said it wasn’t primarily about the sex. “The majority said it was an emotional disconnection, specifically a sense of feeling under-appreciated  A lack of thoughtful gestures,” Gary says. “Men are very emotional beings. They just don’t look like that. Or they don’t seem like that. Or they don’t tell you that.”

Emotional beings huh? Who knew?? Actually I couldn’t care any less about the REASON behind it. If you have a problem at home FIX IT! If you feel under appreciated…Then TELL me about it! I am a true believer in communication..maybe to a fault. I always want to talk things out, and am not very good at keeping my thoughts to myself. As annoying as this may be to The Captain, I have to think that it’s also a good thing for our marriage.

It’s no secret that relationships are work, and that no one is perfect. But human beings have to own up to their faults and failures and stop blaming others. “My wife/husband doesn’t appreciate me”, “My wife/husband won’t have sex with me”, “I’m under so much stress”….waaaaaa!!!! Stop crying, and make a change! I am in no way shape or form saying that it’s easy, and I am not saying that people should stay in an unhappy, or abusive relationship…we all deserve to be happy. What I am saying is that cheating is all about lies and deceit, and those two things have NO PLACE in a marriage. Especially in one where you claim to love your spouse.

Ok, I’m jumping off my soap box now…so now it’s your turn…what do you think? Am I being to hard on people? Do you think it’s human nature to cheat? Go on…be honest…
