After The Alter is a blog that I started in February of 2009. I am writing this blog because I feel it’s a great way to get my thoughts and feelings out there. I love being a wife, and I feel that although I am still learning, I will someday be able to inspire people with my experiences and/or stories. Here, in this blog I will discuss my life “after the alter” meaning after being married, and the changes that go with it. I love being married, and here I share stories of my life as I learn how to be the best wife I can be and all my crazy thoughts along the way. It’s a journey, and I am excited to share!
Before anyone can appreciate my stories in the future, I must give a little background of my past. My life is rather ordinary. I am 29 years old, and live on Long Island. I am originally from Pennsylvania. I had the most wonderful childhood. I have 1 brother, 1 sister, and amazing parents who are very supportive. (even though I bring them all up regularly in the blog) How did I end up in Long Island you ask? Well at 18 I went to Hofstra University. There, I met and fell in love with my now husband. We married in June 2008. We now live in Long Island and are living happily in our townhouse with our wonderful 4lb Pomeranian Tinkerbell.
After our first year of marriage, my husband (Called Captain Awesome here) and I decided to start our family. We scored big time when I found out I was pregnant after our first month of trying. We were the happiest people in the world! Unfortunately the happiness didn’t last long. I miscarried at about 6 weeks, and if you want, you can read about the whole journey here. We were devastated. Currently, we have been trying for months with no success. It’s been a rough road, and I am happy to share all my experiences here on this blog.
For a more in depth look at our TTC journey your can read my blog over at Conceive Magazine online. There I write as Mission:Mommyhood. Here I am more open about the day to day trials and tribulations of trying to conceive. It really helps me to get my thoughts out.
This blog follows my journey to motherhood, but also shares with you about my day to day life and thoughts. Thank you so much for following my adventures.
